Positions & weighting

Positions & weighting

How a deposited asset becomes a position, and how selection weight is set.

A deposited NFT becomes a position. Each position carries a selection weight that determines how likely it is to be the one allocated on any given acquisition.

How weight is assigned

Weight is set from the asset's rarity tier at deposit time. Lower tiers carry more weight, so cheap inventory clears faster and the pool stays liquid. Weight is not a multiplier on payouts — it only affects selection.

The protocol does not set tier percentages. The numbers above are simply what happens to be in the pool right now, recomputed from live weights on every deposit and every acquisition.

Duration is the real variable

Every active position earns an equal share of each acquisition fee, no matter its value. A richly-backed asset carries less weight, so it tends to stay in the pool much longer and collects fees across far more acquisitions before it is finally allocated.

The flip side is the risk: weight implies an average lifetime, but any individual position can be selected on the very first acquisition after it lands. When that happens its earning life ends early and the depositor can finish behind the cut they expected.

Withdrawing a position

A position can be withdrawn by its original depositor only while it is still unallocated. There is no cooldown protecting you between the deposit and the next acquisition, so a position can be gone before you reconsider. Once allocated it belongs to the purchaser.
